About Me

Jonathan Lovett is a lens based artist. They are from Los Angeles and are currently based in Salt Lake City. Lovett holds a BFA in photography from Parsons School of Design. Lovett’s work is heavily inspired by theories of queer ecology and explores the connection between queer individuals and the natural world by highlighting ways of viewing, experiencing, being in, and being nature that diverge from a heterosexist and patriarchal understanding of the natural world. Lovett also makes work exploring topics of religiosity using religious symbolism and texts, exploring how religion is tied to body and space.  

Lovett has shown work in exhibitions in Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, and Paris. He is a YoungArts alumni of 2019 and was semi-finalist in the Presidential Scholar for the Arts competition. He has been featured by publications such as GAY TIMES, Lomography, and Photographers Without Borders Magazine. They are open to any assignment and client work, please email for inquiries.
